Some of the common causes of groin pain are: ### Muscle injuries (muscle strain or tear) One of the most common causes of pain is muscle strain or tear. When you try to get out of bed, you may feel a sharp pain. Symptoms improve with rest; But when you start moving again, the pain comes back. ### Arthritis of the hip joint The pain is usually worse in the morning and evening. It may also decrease with light movements; But it gets worse with vigorous movements. Sometimes, some people find it difficult to move after resting for a while. ### torn hip labrum If this condition exists, a deep pain is felt in the groin or pelvis, and you may notice a popping or clicking sensation when you move. ### herniated disc Severe and fatal pain that may spread to the leg. How is it diagnosed? Accurate diagnosis of groin pain is based on medical history, physical examination, and various tests. Some of the usual diagnostic steps are as follows: ### Physical examination The doctor will carefully examine the painful area and will ask about the time the pain started, the type of activities and its intensity. Also, some specific movements may be asked from the patient to determine which muscles or structures are damaged. ### Imaging If necessary, the doctor may use imaging methods such as radiography (X-ray), ultrasound or MRI (MRI) to identify muscle, tendon or joint injuries. ### Blood test If the doctor suspects the presence of infection or inflammation in the body, he may prescribe a blood test to check the level of inflammation and infection.
