Is spinal deviation dangerous? Most people with scoliosis can lead a normal life and can do most activities, including relaxation and exercise.
This condition usually does not cause significant pain or health-threatening problems and remains the same after growth stops....But if the curvature of the spine worsens, it is necessary to see a doctor....Scoliosis may also cause problems with body image and self-confidence, especially in children and adolescents.
Some of the symptoms of scoliosis that can be used to measure the progress of the disease are:
- distinctly curved spine
- Spinal curvature to one side
- uneven shoulders
- protruding shoulder or hip
- Ribs protrude from 1 side
- No clothes are suitable for people
- Some people with scoliosis may also have back pain... This is usually more common in adults with this disease.
What is the cause of spinal deviation? In about 8 out of 10 cases, the cause of scoliosis is unknown.. This disease is called idiopathic scoliosis..
Typically, scoliosis may be caused by:
The bones of the spine do not form properly in the womb... This disease is called congenital scoliosis and it is present from birth.
An underlying neurological or muscular disease, such as cerebral palsy or muscular dystrophy: this condition is called neuromuscular scoliosis.
Wearing and tearing of the spine with age: This condition is called degenerative scoliosis, which affects older people more.
Does scoliosis cause paralysis?... Scoliosis can sometimes irritate or put pressure on the nerves in and around a person's spine, causing pain, numbness, and tingling in the lower limbs.. This pain and numbness can be felt from your back to your feet.
In these cases, steroid injection and local anesthesia may help to deviate the patient's back.
But the benefits of these (steroid) injections usually only last a few weeks or months, so they're usually not a long-term solution..and surgery is usually the best solution when bone tissue or discs are compressing the spinal cord.
Exercise for the curvature of the spine
It is not known whether back exercises will help improve scoliosis, but general exercise is good for overall health and should not be avoided unless recommended by a doctor...so if you have scoliosis, it is best to talk to a physiotherapist before starting a new exercise program to make sure it is safe.
Activities that strengthen and stretch a person's back may help reduce pain. Exercise can also help a person maintain a healthy weight, which can greatly reduce pressure on the back.
If you suffer from scoliosis, it doesn't matter what kind of exercise you choose....the important thing is to keep your back moving and don't let it stay still for a long time....it's better to choose an exercise that you enjoy and be very committed to it....if you don't know what treatment you should do, you can consult with expert doctors like Yaz Dunavly and scoliosis treatment..get it.
Spinal deviation treatment
Scoliosis can be treated with treatment... This disease is usually not a sign of something serious, and if it is mild, it does not need permanent treatment... The treatment of scoliosis depends on the age of the patient, the severity of the curve and the possibility of its worsening over time.
Many people will not need any treatment and only a few of them will need surgery on their spine.
### Treatment of spinal deviation in adults
Back pain is one of the main problems caused by scoliosis in adults, so treatment in this age group is mainly aimed at pain relief.. Pain medications may help relieve pain associated with scoliosis.
Nonsteroidal drugs, such as ibuprofen, are usually the first recommended treatment.
Most NSAIDs are available without a prescription, but should never be used alone
If the misalignment of the spine is not severe and does not cause pain, treatment may not be necessary... Although adults may need treatment to relieve pain, these treatments include pain relievers, spinal injections, and sometimes surgery.
Most adults with scoliosis do not need lumbar decompression surgery.
However, surgery may be considered as a primary option if:
- progressive curvature of the spine
- Severe back pain that has not changed despite starting palliative treatment
- Being under pressure or nerve damage
To perform surgery, different techniques may be used, such as:
**Laminectomy:** A part of the arcuate part of the vertebra is removed to reduce the pressure on the damaged nerve.
**Discectomy:** in which a part of the disc between the vertebrae is removed to reduce the pressure on the nerve.
**Spinal fusion:** in which 2 or more vertebrae are fused together to stabilize, strengthen and straighten the spine.
In many cases, a combination of these techniques is used.
Spine surgery is major surgery and full recovery may take up to a year or more.
Spine surgery to correct scoliosis also carries the risk of potentially serious complications, including:
- No reduction of pain in the back area (pain in the legs usually disappears after the operation)
- wound infection
- Blood clot formation
- Spinal nerve damage (This can lead to permanent numbness or weakness in the legs or some degree of paralysis in rare cases.)
### Treatment of spinal deviation without surgery
Infants and toddlers may not need treatment because the curvature of the spine may improve over time. A cast or plastic brace may be placed behind their back to prevent the curvature from getting worse as they grow.
Older children may use a back brace to prevent the curve from getting worse.. Sometimes surgery may be needed to control the growth of the spine.... Back braces are not often used in adults with scoliosis, but they can provide pain relief by supporting the spine.
If the patient does not have the necessary conditions for scoliosis surgery, the doctor should use methods such as plastic braces or plastering.
### Spinal deviation treatment with physiotherapy
Some people may benefit from back exercises taught by a physical therapist (such as those recommended for lumbar disc repair). These exercises are unlikely to cure spinal curvature based on the available scientific evidence, but they may reduce pain.
What people have the most spinal deviation? By studying various researches, we find that this disease is seen in different populations with a higher or lower percentage due to certain factors... - **in normal people;** about 3 people out of every 1000 children or teenagers have scoliosis... - **in high-risk groups;** the prevalence can be significantly higher....for example, in people with the syndrome, 10 out of 50 people have the syndrome.. scoliosis... scoliosis;** If a member of the grade If you have a family history of scoliosis, your risk is 5 to 7 times higher... - **People with certain diseases;** Some diseases such as congenital diseases and genetic syndromes can increase the risk of scoliosis... According to these statistics and global information, the most effective cause of this disease can be considered to be contracting some diseases... and its treatment!**
We realized that scoliosis or curvature of the spine may occur in different periods of time from infancy to adulthood... The treatment methods in each of these conditions will be different based on the diagnosis of a specialist doctor. There are various treatment methods, some of which are effective and some of which are ineffective, so it is recommended to choose the best treatment option...
