radiology and its applications

For more information about radiology and its applications, you can read the following article. According to what agent is used, medical radiology is divided into two major specialized fields: nuclear medicine, which is based on radioactive materials, and another radiology which is based on The basis of X-rays and its characteristics. The overall shape of radiology devices varies depending on whether they are made for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes. In general, in a general radiology device, the x-ray generating lamp is attached to a base that can move in different directions to focus the x-rays in different directions as desired. In these devices, in addition to the facilities provided for radiation therapy or radiation for photography, sometimes devices are used to simultaneously see the image of the part of the body that has been exposed to radiation. In radiography, by adjusting the electrical conditions of X-ray radiation and placing a film in the path of the radiation, and at the same time using secondary devices to collect the radiation, it is possible to obtain a reliable evidence of the state of health or disease of a part of the body for examination and study. A simple radiograph is a photo taken without the use of a foreign substance. In this method, it is difficult to separate the boundaries of members from each other.

Applications of radiology

Radiology is usually used to evaluate and examine the patient. Among the most important applications of radiology, the following can be mentioned:

  • Photo of the lung
  • Color photos with contrast of esophagus, stomach, kidney, etc.
  • Simple and quick examinations of the abdomen, esophagus, stomach, intestines, kidneys, third tonsil, kidney stones, etc.
  • Diagnosis of fractures
  • Color photos with contrast

What are the types of radiology?

Diagnostic radiology: This type helps doctors to diagnose diseases of the structure inside the body. For example, to diagnose the cause of disease symptoms, check how the patient's body responds to treatment methods, screening for breast cancer, colon cancer or heart diseases

Many radiology methods for these examinations are:

  • CT scan including CT angiography
  • Fluoroscopy including barium enema
  • MRI and MRA
  • Mammography
  • PET scan
  • sonography
  • Simple X-ray such as chest X-ray
  • Nuclear medicine which includes tests such as bone scan, thyroid scan, heart thallium test.

Interventional radiology: Doctors use different imaging methods such as CT scan, ultrasound, MRI or fluoroscopy to perform various tasks. Such as placing a catheter, wire or other device in the patient's body by making the smallest incision

  • Angiography or angioplasty and placing a stent
  • Creating embolization to control bleeding
  • Cancer treatment including tumor embolization using chemoembolization or Y-90 radioembolization
  • Tumor ablation
  • Needle biopsy of various organs such as Lung and thyroid
  • Breast biopsy under ultrasound or stereotaxic guidance
  • Placement of venous catheter

Thank you for your efforts to inform people and I wish you and your colleagues well. This work helps the patients and their families and they gain knowledge of valuable data that is not easily available to the public, which can be a good help in their treatment and the selection of a doctor and hospital, etc., hoping that such valuable work will be done by others as well.
