Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder

Attention-Deficit/hyperactivity disorder

ADHD is used to describe children who appear to be out of control. According to DSM5, ADHD includes a persistent pattern of inattention and/or hyperactivity-impulsivity that interferes with a person's functioning or development. and characterized by inattention and/or impulsivity and hyperactivity:

Neglect:

The person has at least 6 of the following symptoms and the symptoms last for at least 6 months. The severity of the symptoms is inconsistent with the level of development and has a direct negative impact on a person's social, occupational or academic activities. These symptoms are not simply a reflection of a confrontational behavior, disobedience, opposition, or lack of understanding of assigned tasks or orders. At the age of 17, at least 5 symptoms are necessary.

A. A person does not pay attention to small things.

B. The person has difficulty in maintaining attention on the assignment.

P. In direct speech, it seems that he does not pay attention to the words.

T. His concentration time is short and he quickly abandons work.

Th. Has difficulty in organizing and managing time.

C. They avoid activities that require continuous mental activity.

Ch. They often lose supplies.

H. They are easily distracted.

Kh. They are forgetful.

Hyperactivity and impulsivity:

A: They wander around and shake their hands and feet.

B. They climb through the door of the wall.

P. They play with noise.

T. They are always lively.

Th. They are talkative.

C. They answer before the end of the question.

Ch. They run in the middle of others' words.

These symptoms disrupt the child's performance in more than one situation (home-school). But in order to make a diagnosis, the possibility of anxiety, depression and stubbornness must be removed and the opinion of parents and teachers should be taken into account so that the child's expectations and sense of worth are not damaged.

If we change our perspective and adopt a new attitude, we can see this set of characteristics as a blessing, not a disorder. This change of attitude helps both the child and the parents and teachers.

Isn't it a blessing to have more energy?

Don't you wish to have more energy?

Often children who have more energy than their peers are labeled "hyperactivity or ADHD". What is called ADHD can be called vitality. A characteristic based on which the child is very curious about the world around him due to his high energy and interest. Hamad's characteristic is a lot of energy, humor, enthusiasm. Is it just because it is not in harmony with people and their environment? Do we refer to it as a disorder?

If you are a parent of a child with these characteristics, you know that these children draw a lot of energy from their parents, coaches and teachers. Have we thought that maybe parents and teachers don't have enough energy to challenge these children! The purpose of this article is to change our attitude towards this issue so that we can consider having a lot of energy as a blessing and not a disorder.

Do you agree that a hyperactive child is more energetic than you and children of the same age? Is he more active and curious? Isn't it better instead of suppressing this curiosity, instead of threatening the active child knowing the value of this gift, channelize it and direct it in the right direction?

In the sense of helping him keep a lot of energy inside himself first. Restrain sudden impulses. Then find ways to direct his great energy.

The reason for getting the problem/disorder label is that we cannot direct this much energy with the support of the child's thoughts and brain towards useful goals, so we allow this energy to be spent on the child's undefined impulses and interests. and cannot focus on a specific goal.

If you know and accept that his high energy is very valuable; You can help him control this energy by investing in it and take the reins of energy. And don't let his desires pull him in any direction.

Hyperactive children are constantly in motion. We can monitor this inner energy so that it pulls the child less and less and makes the child captive to stimulating emotions. We can prevent the waste of children's energy by providing solutions to parents and teachers. We can provide methods to lower the child's internal motor speed.
