**The term polyp refers to any mass or growth that grows from the mucosal surface of the intestine into the intestinal canal. It should be noted that this definition is general and does not take into account the histological nature of polyps.** ** Although polyps are widely seen in both sexes and at any age, the occurrence of some polyps is hereditary and familial, and they are classified in a condition called familial polyposis syndrome, which is of great diagnostic and therapeutic importance in affected families.**
** Colon polyps are divided into three main groups, which are:** **1- Neoplastic and cancerous mucosal polyps including: adenomatous polyp, villous adenoma.** **2- Non-neoplastic and non-cancerous mucosal polyp including: hyperplastic juvenile polyp, hamartoma.** **3- submucosal polyps including: carcinoid-lymphoid lipoma.** **On the other hand, depending on how it grows and attaches to the colonic mucosa, a polyp may be pedunculated and have a trunk, or it may be pedunculated and attached to the mucosa.**
**Non-neoplastic polyps are not of much clinical importance and are accidentally detected during colonoscopy or colon imaging and are only important in terms of distinguishing them from polyps that have the potential to become cancerous. **In terms of prevalence, about 70% of colon polyps are adenomatous types and the rest are from other groups of polyps, especially hyperplastic... Hyperplastic polyps are mostly small and approximately 0.5 to 1 cm in diameter... Colonoscopy and biopsy are necessary to diagnose the type of polyp and differentiate them from cancer.**

. The non-familial type of these polyps are divided into three categories: tubular-villous-tubulovillous and it is estimated that these polyps are seen in people over 35 years old more than 55 years old.. The percentage of colon cancers originate from these polyps.. Therefore, this phenomenon is continuously displayed as follows:** **Normal mucosa of the colon and rectum
Diagnosis includes radiography with barium, rectosigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy and CT scan biopsy.** Colon cancer imaging and screening
