What is meant by **chondrosis** is the breakdown of cartilage, connective tissue in a joint.... Such a problem occurs due to overuse, injury and also due to aging. Usually, this disease is also known as arthrosis and it usually affects parts of the body including the spine, neck, hips, hands and knees. You should keep in mind that this disease has no cure.. but with the solutions that the doctor considers, it helps to slow down the progress of the disease and restore mobility. What are the symptoms of chondrosis? When the connective tissue is damaged, other parts such as the hip joint, the palm, the bottom of the spine, etc. also have problems... Other general symptoms after contracting this disease are as follows: - Severe pain - limited movement - Feeling of stiffness in the back and neck spine Familiarity with types of chondrosis Such a situation may occur in any joint.. but the following are the most common types: ### Knee If you are an athlete or obese, the possibility of problems such as tears and abrasions in the knee area is high. The presence of cartilage causes the loss of sliding movements. Assuming you have chondromalacia patella, you may have the following symptoms: - Feeling pain behind the knee - Knee sensitivity - knee pain when running, jumping, squatting, climbing stairs, or sitting for long periods of time - Stiffness, swelling of the knee or joint deformation in some people Sometimes, if the symptoms of this disease are ignored, such conditions lead to a decrease in muscle strength or quadriceps tendon pain.. In addition, such a position affects the range of motion of the knee: - Knee bending - knee stretch - knee rotation - and…. ### Creating cartilage in the hand It is possible that bone spurs will form in the joint of the finger and make it inflamed and sensitive... Most patients feel severe pain in their thumb. Cartilage loss in the hands affects many daily activities and fine movements such as writing, tying shoelaces, buttoning shirts, typing, etc. ### lesson The hip is a weight-bearing ball and socket joint with cartilage forming the inner surface and allowing for easy movement. If the cartilage begins to wear away, the friction between the bones leads to bone spurs. Meanwhile, rheumatoid arthritis of the hip joint affects the joint, causing difficulty walking, pain, stiffness, and inflammation. ### Neck Arthritis that occurs in the spine and neck is known as cervical spondylosis. Between each vertebra of the spine is a cushion of cartilage that prevents the bones from pressing against each other. When the cartilage between the vertebrae is destroyed, it causes swelling and pain that affects comfortable and normal activities. ### Lower spine In most cases, the pain in the spine gets better after some time.. but chondrosis is such that you feel chronic pain in the spine and it doesn't get better with time. With the loss of cartilage, bony spurs form and affect the nerves in the lower part of the spine... Such conditions lead to numbness, tingling, shooting pain and burning. ### cervical spine Cartilaginous problems in the cervical spine can lead to such cases: - Visual damage - Buzz - causing pain - fainting Which people are at risk of cartilage?.. Knee arthritis is usually caused by some sports or due to excess weight.... Every kilogram of extra weight puts four times more force on the knee joint... Endurance athletes who run long distances are prone to joint pain... Sports that require fast movements such as basketball and tennis put pressure on the knee... Arthritis is very common in people over 50 years old.... Age is one of the main causes of cartilage breakdown over time. Bone structure plays a role in the development of chondrosis, and it also occurs in people with naturally shallow hip sockets (a condition called hip dysplasia). Repeated movements over several years lead to excessive use of the joint and there is a possibility of cartilage loss. In addition to this damage to the cartilage, an injury or surgery may occur during it, and you will not notice the disease until arthritis occurs. Types of non-surgical treatment solutions When chondrosis is diagnosed in the early stages before severe osteoarthritis develops, symptoms can be controlled with non-invasive treatment options.... For people who suffer from hand, hip or knee arthritis, various non-surgical methods are recommended. ### sports exercises Some exercises such as tai chi, balance exercises and yoga are recommended. ### orthosis and braces Using a brace to support the injured joint as well as crutches is recommended.... Acupuncture as well as heat and cold therapy can be effective options for treating chondrosis. ### Physiotherapy Exercising with a physical therapist helps strengthen the muscles around the affected joint and provides better support and stability to prevent further damage. ### occupational therapy Sometimes, depending on your condition, you will be referred to an occupational therapist to make adjustments to protect the joint... This can be very important if your job makes your condition worse. ### Weight loss Weight loss is another thing that is recommended as part of treatment.... Losing weight not only reduces pressure on the joint, but also helps reduce inflammation. People with diabetes should prevent arthritis by controlling blood sugar levels and choosing a healthy lifestyle. High blood sugar leads to hardening and weakening of cartilage and makes it prone to damage.... Diabetes also contributes to inflammation and aggravates joint pain. Other treatment strategies that a pain specialist may suggest are direct injections into the affected joint... In addition, the doctor may recommend creams for temporary pain relief along with supplements to strengthen the bones and joints. The results of the supplements are usually seen after a few months. Surgery When chondrosis is accompanied by severe pain or leads to limited movement, in these cases, the doctor may recommend surgery... Actually, long-term use of painkillers cannot be a suitable permanent solution for you.... Surgery to treat this disease is performed in several stages.... For example, they consider doing arthroscopic surgery to remove the inflamed tissue and replace the destroyed cartilage... The recovery process after joint surgery can be very long and you need rehabilitation.
