Reasons for uterine laparoscopy Laparoscopy of the uterus may be performed for various reasons, some of which are: - Diagnosis and treatment of endometriosis: Endometriosis refers to the growth of uterine cells in other parts of the body. - Eliminating scar tissue or adhesions: scar tissue can be caused by pelvic inflammatory diseases or endometriosis. - Treatment of ectopic pregnancies: ectopic pregnancy is the development of a fertilized egg in a place outside the uterus. - Sterilization: closing the fallopian tubes in order to prevent fertility - Ovarian cyst removal - Removal of the uterus (hysterectomy) or ovaries (oophorectomy) - Treatment of uterine fibroids - Investigating the presence of cancerous masses or the spread of cancer - Biopsy: preparation of tissue samples to investigate endometriosis or any type of cancer - Diagnosing the cause of persistent abdominal pain - Diagnosing the reason for not getting pregnant if you have been trying to get pregnant for months. How is uterine laparoscopy performed? First, the skin of the abdomen is cleaned and covered if necessary. An instrument can then be inserted into the uterus through the vagina. Carbon dioxide, nitric oxide or air enters the abdominal cavity, just below the navel. This gas creates a space that separates the abdominal wall and intestines from the pelvic organs, making it easier to see the reproductive organs. A thin tube is inserted through an incision just below the navel. With a second probe inserted into the abdominal cavity through another incision, the pelvic organs are positioned for better visualization. Diagnostic laparoscopy that is performed without opening the second hole is not complete, because when the mentioned probe is not used, it is not possible to see all the organs completely. During laparoscopy, the entire pelvis and uterus are scanned. The ovaries and the lining that covers the inner surface of the abdomen (peritoneum) are usually examined by direct visual inspection. In addition to the diseases found in these organs, the doctor looks for the presence of adhesions and endometriosis. If any abnormalities are found, the doctor will either try to repair them (laparoscopy) or use biopsy forceps to remove small pieces of tissue for examination during a pathological examination. A blue dye (methylene blue) is then injected into the uterus and fallopian tubes to see if they are open. Once the laparoscopy is complete, the introduced gas is deflated and one or two stitches are used to close the incisions. Because the incisions are so small, these stitches are usually not necessary and it is enough to cover the holes with a bandage. Today, most doctors use a video laparoscopy technique in which a video camera is attached to the laparoscope, allowing the surgeon to see what he sees on a television screen. This type of laparoscopy also greatly facilitates patient education, allowing doctors to show tapes or CDs later to explain the nature of the current problem to the patient. Laparoscopy is performed in the office without the need for anesthesia. ### **Steps of laparoscopy** Uterus

Preparations before laparoscopy of the uterus If laparoscopy is performed for diagnosis, you can most likely return home a few hours after the end of the operation, but if laparoscopy is performed as a stage of treatment, you may need to stay overnight in the hospital. This surgery is performed under general anesthesia, so it is necessary to refrain from consuming any food or drink 6 hours before the operation. Before performing laparoscopy, you should take a urine test to check pregnancy, this procedure is not performed during pregnancy because of the side effects it may have on the fetus. In order to prevent deep vein thrombosis and clot formation in leg veins, it may be necessary to wear compression stockings or inject anticoagulants. **Click on the photo below to receive the fee:**
